DIY "Colored" Card Stock - May All Your Dreams Come True

by - November 26, 2017

This incredibly cute little girl is from the Dreamland Stamp Set by Craftin Desert Divas (which I have recently become pretty obsessed with). I love this set because it can be used in so many different ways for lots of occasions. Even this card can be used for a variety of occasions such as a birthday, a baby shower, or just a hello.

After I came up with the rough idea of what I wanted the card to look like, I used the largest frame from Craftin Desert Diva's Fancy Frames Die to cut out my card front from 110lb card stock. I knew I wanted the card to be on the simpler side, so I used the larger circle section of CDD's Sorted Shapes Stencil and did some ink blending with Distress Ink in spun sugar, being sure to create a faded out effect so the middle would be the most heavily saturated.

I stamped the girl with Memento Ink (Copic safe) and colored her in with Copic markers. After cutting her out, I adhered her to the center of the stenciled shapes with foam tape to add a little dimension. I then decided to add these two adorable clouds to really drive home the sleepy feeling. I decided to adhere them with foam tape as well.

I chose the sentiment "May all your dreams come true" from the same set and after trying out a few things, decided just to stamp it directly onto the card in Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Because the frame die that I used was slightly smaller than the normal 4"X5.25" that I usually use for a matted look, I decided to cut another piece of card stock to that size and blend the same Distress Ink in Spun Sugar to the edges. This gives the illusion of a colored card stock that matches the circles behind the girl. I used some tape runner to adhere the card front to the matted card stock, and used foam tape to adhere it all to the card base. Finally, I added a few Nuvo Jewel Drops around the girl for just a little more interest and decided to just leave it at that.

I hope that you've enjoyed reading about how I created this card, and my own "colored" card stock! See you very soon!
