Alcohol Ink - Lawn Fawn You Octopi My Heart

by - January 19, 2018

Hello there! Today I'm up on the Drive By Crafts blog showcasing the adorable Octopi My Heart stamp set by Lawn Fawn. Pretty much everything Lawn Fawn touches is the cutest thing I've ever seen, and this set (perfect for Valentines day) is no different. It's a mini set but they've added a few embellishment stamps to make it super easy to create different characters with the same octopus stamp. A stamper on a budget can really appreciate that! :)

To create the "water", I decided to try my hand at alcohol inks. This is the first card I've highlighted alcohol ink with, so go easy on me! I have used it before, but I used it as a background with an overlay. You can check that out here if you're interested! Alcohol inks are super fun, super messy, and can give really beautiful results. For this section, I actually blended on an entire piece of Yupo Paper and just chose my favorite section and cut it with a circle die. I chose this section because I liked that the darker color ink appeared as movement in a lighter colored ocean.

I created the different octopus characters by adding a little bow on one to make a girl octopus. I also gave the "boy" octopus a heart in one of his tentacles. I love how it looks like he's gripping it.

For finishing touches I added a gold embossed ring around the water just to give a bit more interest and color. I knew I wanted to keep this card super simple because of the interest in the alcohol ink, so I thought it would be a good way to add embellishments without actually adding too much. I used Nuvo Drops in Sea Breeze to create bubbles in the water. Finally, I stamped the sentiment on a piece of black card stock and heat embossed with white and gold embossing powder.

Let me know how you use alcohol inks. I'd love to see your projects using them! Have a happy weekend everyone! See you soon <3
