Creative Masking for "Wet" Background

by - March 31, 2018

April showers! They're coming and I have to say, I'm a little excited for the change of pace from all the snow we've been getting. You don't have to shovel rain!

I thought with spring upon us and April just around the corner, I would share with you this incredibly cute stamp from Stampbendous. I'm not sure I've ever made a card front sans sentiment but this image and background really spoke loudly enough that I thought I could put the sentiment on the inside. I used some creative masking and ink blending techniques to create a wet looking background for these cute boots. I show the full technique in my YouTube video tutorial here:

I decided to create focus on the center pair of boots and add dimension by cutting them out and adhering them with foam tape. Finally, I added some glossy accents to create an appearance of rubber rain boots.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you've enjoyed this post and try the "wet" April Showers look for yourself. See you soon!
