Neat and Tangled Watercolored Card

by - June 29, 2018

Hello everyone! Today is a bit of a sad day. It is my last post for Drive By Crafts for the foreseeable future. As this term comes to a close, I wanted to use this incredible Layered Landscapes set by Neat and Tangled for a few reasons. The sets sentiments are all very inspiring with words like "brave" and buildable sentiments like "tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes".

The sentiments included in the set along with the mountain and hill landscape stamps have such an uplifting feel that I knew I wanted to use it as a send off for this team. I've got a step by step below, but wanted to take this moment to say thank you to Annette, Kimberly, Angelica, Waleska, and Jeannie for all the support and all they've taught me this term!

For the mountains, I used my mini misti to stamp them in the same place three times with three different inks to give that deep, rich, purple color. First with a light pink, then a vibrant purple, and finally a mid gray tone. I then fussy cut them out so that I could adhere them to the card front later for added dimension.

I decided to watercolor the sky and did so by using dye based inks. I smushed them a bit onto my glass mat and sprayed with some water. This creates beautiful, vibrant "watercolor paints" that work beautifully for projects like this.

After adhering the mountains to the card, I used a creamy, white watercolor with a fan brush to create some interest and "snow" on them.

Finally, I added my sentiment and embossed it in white to help it pop out a bit while still leaving the design intact.

I hope that you've enjoyed this photo tutorial and my last for this term on the DBC Team.

Keep creating!
