I've split my posts up into two days to be able to show you what I created with all of the new release items. If you've watched the live videos that Catherine has filmed over the last couple of weeks, you've seen the items and know that there are new layering sets (!!!!!) and a full Halloween release as well (!!!!!) I'm excited. Can you tell? Today I'll be showing you some inspiration from the Kind Of Wonderful sets which include Rose Garden, Hello Autumn, and Kind Of Wonderful stamps sets and coordinating dies, along with the Angled Squares Background stamp.
Here's a quick video showing how I choose my colors for layered stamps such as these and tips for how I line up the stamps for *near* perfect layering.
Let's get into the Hello Autumn set! I'm ready for sweater weather. Anyone else?!
Here's a quick video showing how I choose my colors for layered stamps such as these and tips for how I line up the stamps for *near* perfect layering.
Let's get into the Hello Autumn set! I'm ready for sweater weather. Anyone else?!
I have a confession: I am not a summer person. I don't love the beach, sun bathing isn't really my "thing" and anything above 79 degrees Fahrenheit makes me wish for snow days. So imagine my utter excitement when I opened THIS beauty. Autumn leaves. Is there anything more beautiful and satisfying after an unbearably hot summer? Why, yes, there is! Layered autumn leaf stamps.
The toughest part of layering stamps is getting the color for each layer just right and there are a lot of color combos on this card. Here's my breakdown for each one:
RED: It's A Girl, Rose Petals, Peppermint Scrub, and Black Jack (thank Ardyth for that one!)
ORANGE: Tiara, Bellini, Mandarin Spice, Tutti Frutti
YELLOW: Limoncello, Tiara, Shea Butter, Shea Butter again (definitely not as detailed as the others)
GREEN: Melon Ice, Lime Rickey, Eucalyptus, Grass Skirt
PURPLE: Sweet Sixteen, Pixie Dust, Royal Treatment, Black Jack
I made up my own card size using watercolor paper and splattered it with some metallic gold watercolor as a background. I was inspired for this card by a photo I took with my daughter a few years ago. She decided to search for leaves of each color of the rainbow and to my surprise, she found them!

Here's another card inspired by a photo, but this time one I saw on Joanna Gaines Instagram. The Angled Squares background stamp is perfect as a tiled floor when stamped in Midnight ink on white card stock. I then stamped quite a few roses and leaves from the Rose Garden stamp set and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.
I then arranged them on the top left hand corner of the card front and across the top to resemble the floral arrangement in the picture.

Here's what I used to layer these:
RED ROSE: It's A Girl, Rose Petals, Peppermint Scrub, Black Jack
ORANGE ROSE: Tiara, Shea Butter, Orange Twist, Mandarin Spice
YELLOW ROSE: Limoncello, Tiara, Shea Butter, Tutti Frutti
PINK ROSE: Skip 1st Layer, Skip 2nd Layer, It's A Girl, Rose Petals
PURPLE FLOWER: Sweet Sixteen, Flirty Fuchsia, Royal Treatment, No 4th Layer - Limoncello for center
BLUE FLOWER: It's A Boy, Fiesta Blue, Juniper Mist, No 4th Layer - Limoncello for center
GREEN LEAVES: Lime Rickey, Grass Skirt, Eucalyptus
I hope that you've enjoyed learning a little bit about how I created these cards and how I chose the colors for the layers. Please continue hopping along and comment at each stop for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to CatherinePooler.com
