Ellen Hutson August Challenge

by - August 19, 2018

Hi everyone! If you haven't checked out the August challenge over at Ellen Hutson yet, there's still time! The topic is Alcohol Inks and that really broadens the range of things that you can create. I created two cards using the ink in different ways to show how versatile they are.

This card uses alcohol ink as the coloring medium for the flower. I used the Bold Blossom Stand Alone die to die cut the flower and leaves and adhered a few layers of them on top of one another to a  piece of alcohol ink card stock that I blended some alcohol ink in pinks and the other in greens. I also used the pink blended alcohol ink piece of card stock to die cut the Wonderful word die by Catherine Pooler to draw in some more of that fun color.

For my second card I used blues and greens to create an ocean scene on just a strip of this card front. Alcohol ink panels can be overwhelming and look very busy so I like to use them sparingly and as accents on a card because I prefer a more clean and simple style.

For the shining light, I used a white pigment ink and an ink blending tool to pull in some of the ink down from the top left hand corner of the alcohol ink panel to appear as sunlight streaming through the water. For that adorable sentiment and fun whales I of course used the S'whale Stamp Set from the Essentials By Ellen line.

I hope that you've enjoyed learning a little bit about how I created these cards using alcohol inks! For the full list of products used, more inspiration, and to enter the challenge click the link below!
