MFT & Friends June Release

by - June 04, 2019

Hello, friends! I'm over the moon to be celebrating the June release with My Favorite Things today! You're probably very familiar with the incredible releases that MFT has become known for and this one is no different. Today I'll be sharing some cute critters and and an easy interactive card that really make a statement. Let's just get right into it!

The two photos above are using the Slider Surprise Die along with the Friends with Fins and the Under The Sea Die-namics set to create this really beautiful underwater scene. The Slider Surprise Die transforms your cards into a 3D diorama that is made to display. As you can see here, I used acetate to adhere the dolphin friend to the backside of the whale so that when the slider is activated, the dolphin is actually jumping off of the paper and giving life and personality to the card. I've added the photos below as a before (closed) and after (open) slider element.

Next up I've got a sweet and simple card Picnic Pals set illustrated by Stacey Yacula. I'm such a fan of her critters and how she manages to create such texture which really provides a great guide when coloring them in.

My friend Angelica (@myloveforpaper), who is on the MFT design team, is an incredible colorist and I've learned so much from studying her projects and reading her blog posts. I stamped these images in a very light beige ink so that I could use the no-line coloring technique with this sweet chipmunk.

I began by putting a colored base down with Copic markers for the chipmunk and used Prsimacolor colored pencils in matching colors to create texture. To add detail to the facial features that were a bit lost in the light beige ink, I used a fine tip Micron black pen to retrace his eyes and mouth for detail and personality.

I've got lots more inspiration coming soon, but for now head on over to the MFT blog (<---click here) where there's tons of inspiration for all of the brand new products released today! I would love to hear what your favorite set of the release is. Let me know in the comments!

  20. The acetate construction on your first card adds quite the wow factor when you pull up the slider. That's super cool. And you did an excellent job with your coloring on both cards, but especially on the second. You enhanced Stacey's style of drawing with your coloring, which I find really impressive. Thanks for sharing!
