Altenew Build-A-Flower: Camellia Japonica Release Blog Hop + Giveaway
Hello there! Thank you so much for stopping by my stop on the Altenew Build A Flower: Camellia Japonica blog hop. You should have arrived here from Kelly Griglione. We've got tons of inspiration for you on the hop today, but first I'd love to share a back to basics video that I created using this new set. I show, in detail, the basics of making sure your layers pair up perfectly every time. I also use the pamphlet that comes with the stamp set as a guide to keeping my layers lined up perfectly. Check that out here:
GIVEAWAY!: To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 6 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog for a chance to win. We’ll also draw a winner to receive a $15 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on 7/7/2019.
I love the way the Red Cosmo's mini ink cube set compliments the Tattered Rose Distress Oxide blended background on this card. To achieve the look, I first masked the center area with a piece of reposition-able sticker paper and started stamping my flowers. I then masked off each of the flowers and stamped some leaves to fill in the scene. I then masked the leaves and ink blended the Distress Oxide in Tattered Rose onto the entire card stock. Finally, I was able to remove all of the masking to reveal brightly colored flowers against the rose colored card stock.
For my sentiment, I used "you are just delightful" which is included in the stamp set, and stamped it to the center white rectangle that I'd previously masked off. To accentuate the center area a bit more, I used the fine frame dies from Altenew, with a gold metallic card stock.
The above guide is included in the pamphlet with the stamp set and is such a wonderful resource when layering your stamps.
For my next card, I got some inspiration from a recent video by Jennifer McGuire. Her Interlocking Gatefold video sparked an idea in me to use these flowers in a bouquet style that served as the opening to my card.
I used bright colors to create this summery bouquet in the center of my card. The leaves stamped in gray are from the new Leaf Clusters stamp set and add just the right amount of compliment.
The gatefold opens in the center of the card and separates the bouquet in an unexpected way. The large pink flower swings to the right while the orange and purple Camellia Japonica's swing to the left to expose the inside of the card. I just love this idea and love the way this stamp set worked for it.
I hope that you've enjoyed learning a about how I created these cards using the newest Altenew Build A Flower set. Your next stop is the super talented Kelly Janes.
You can find the full hop list underneath the supply list below. Thanks for stopping by, I'll see you again soon!
