Hi there everyone! If this is your first time visiting my blog, welcome! Thank you so much for stopping by my stop on the Gina K and Inkon3 collaboration blog hop. I have always admired the look of no line coloring, but until recently have been too afraid of what the outcome would be if I tried. Shortly after embarking on one of Kathy Racoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenges, I realized that making mistakes is one of the most important parts of crafting and creating art. After all, there is no better way to learn than from trial and error. I love being able to see the improvements, no matter how small, when looking at each no-line coloring project in succession.
Before I get started with some of my most useful no-line coloring tips, I'd love to run down the giveaway information for the hop.
We are giving away a $50 Gina K. Designs or $50 Inkon3 gift card to two lucky winners. To enter, leave a comment on each blog in the hop! We will be picking random winners from the comments and they will be announced on each company's respective blog on Friday, July 5, 2019.
For my first card, shown above, I used the Vibrant Blooms stamp set by Gina K Designs along with the coordinating dies. I am absolutely in love with this set and knew that the Fade Out Ink by Inkon3 would work perfectly to allow the no-line coloring technique to shine through. I decided to use Copic markers with this stamp set since the petals were all so close together. I used the darkest shade to outline the petals from the base to just about the very tip in order to create contrast and differentiation between each of the petals. I also used this same shade for creating texture throughout the flower from the base, radiating upward in each petal.
For my next card, I used Heels To You and Bad and Boujee stamp sets by Inkon3. I decided to use watercolor no-line this time and the technique is a bit different than with markers. After stamping the images in the same Fade Out Ink, I started by taking a fully saturated color and applying it to the base of a single petal. I then lightly dunked my brush in some clean water, pat it once onto a dry paper towel, and then dragged some of that saturation up the petal and repeated this process one more time until I achieved a faded look from the base to the tip of each petal. The most important thing to remember here is to paint every other petal allowing each to dry before you go in to the petal directly next to it. This way, the watercolor between two petals won't run into each other and appear as one.
I hope that you've gotten some no-line inspiration here today! Please continue to hop along to see all of the wonderful inspiration in store for you from the other contributors like your next stop, Susie Moore. Don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win $50 to Gina K or Inkon3! I'll see you again soon.
