Hi crafty friends! Thank you so much for joining us on the Altenew Stand Alone Die and Stencil release blog hop. You should have gotten here from Amber Rain Davis blog.
You can find the full hop list just below the supply links at the end of this post. We've got lots of inspiration for you today and I'd love to just jump right in to a couple projects that I've created with some of the new products available today.
My first project features the brand new Open Bloom layering die. I have to admit that this is a fast favorite of mine. The detail of this blooming flower comes together so beautifully as the colors of each layer adds more dimension. For these blooms on this card I decided to use the Red Cosmos card stock gradient pack, but I skipped the third color because I wanted a more muted color palette with darker shadows.
To create a background for these florals I ink blended a light layer of Ocean Wave ink from the center out to form a vignette around the edge of the card. This helps to draw attention to the center of the card from which will then pull the eyes up and down the length of the card with the stems for the flowers. By using a simple one layer sentiment, the focus can stay on the images on the card which is especially great with a layered die cut card.
To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 6 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog by 3/3/2020 for a chance to win. We’ll also draw a winner to receive a $15 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on 3/6/2020.
My next card features the beautiful Fancy For You Die and Dotted Starburst Die, which is an embossed design background die. These embossing background dies are so great to add lots of design and interest into a card without adding color or layers. It's great for when you want a beautiful outcome but still keeping simplicity.
I decided to use a bright color for my card front since I'd be keeping this card very simple. For contrast with the pink color I used a fresh white card stock to cut the Fancy For You die, and did so 4 times to stack on top of one another to create a chipboard sentiment for dimension. Just to add a little more individuality I curved the sentiment stamp "Here for you always" just under one of the flourishes. It didn't turn out perfectly, but sometimes aspects of my designs don't and its something that I've learned (still learning) to accept.
Thank you again for stopping by today! I hope that you'll continue hopping along and leaving comments for your chance to win. Your next stop on the hop is the incredible LauraJane.
