Spellbinders Decorative Glimmer Hop - Foil Resist

by - July 02, 2019

Hi there! Welcome to my stop on the Spellbinders Decorative Glimmer Press blog hop. I'm thrilled to be participating and giving you some inspiration amongst the incredible talent on the hop today. I've decided to focus on the foil resist technique today. If you've heard of emboss resist, you're more than halfway there! Check out my video here to see it in action:

GIVEAWAY: To celebrate this release, we are giving away a $50 gift certificate to 3 lucky blog readers – selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop. Giveaway closes on Sunday, July 7th 11:59 pm EDT. The winners will be announced in the blog hop post the following Monday. The winner is responsible for shipping cost, duties, and taxes.

I'm focusing on both watercolor and ink blending with my foil resist technique today. For the watercolor card, I use Polished Brass Glimmer Foil with the Floral Pattern Glimmer Plate onto Arches cold press watercolor paper. I use Altenew's watercolor palette because of the vibrancy and creamy formula and it works perfectly to compliment the shine and glimmer you get with the glimmer foil.

For my sentiment, I kept it very simple and used the Hello Glimmer Hot Foil plate which comes with a coordinating die that actually cuts the word out of the card stock. This worked great in the center of the Floral Pattern glimmer plate. I trimmed the card front down to 3 3/4" by 5" and adhered it to an A2 sized card base.

For my next foil resist card, I used ink blending over foil with the Flower Border Glimmer hot foil plate. The great thing about both of these techniques is that the intensity of the shine won't be compromised by the medium you choose to put over it.

After masking off just above and below the foiling, I used some Hero Arts inks to blend onto the foiled section. I love the way the ombre blending reacts with the vibrance of the green foil. To finish the card off, I used this "happy" word die from Spellbinders and the sentiment "create your own happiness" by Simon Says Stamp.

Thank you so much for hopping along with us today! I hope you've gotten tons of inspiration to create with these beautiful plates and try out Foil Resist for yourself! Your next stop on the hop is the incredibly talented Laura Volpes. You can find the entire hop list underneath the supply links. See you again soon!
